Jake is from Mt. Ulla, NC – a small, country town north of Charlotte, NC. He attended Gardner-Webb University as a student-athlete for men’s golf and served as the Student Body President his senior year. Jake met his wife, Kate, while participating in a yearlong fellowship program with the National Student Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. Kate was participating as a Fellow in a similar program Portland, OR. The two met at the 2019 National Prayer Breakfast. They have one son, Shep, and have lived in Charlotte, NC since 2020.
Jake currently works as a Program Manager for the True Homes Foundation where he is responsible for the Foundation’s workforce development initiatives. One of the initiatives Jake is passionate about is Builders Bridge, which is a non-profit that provides career readiness programs for under resourced young adults that helps them receive employment in the construction industry. In addition to his role at True Homes, Jake serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Charlotte Homebuilders Association serving as Chair of the organization’s Workforce Development Committee.
The 100x Forum Emerging Leaders program was pivotal in aligning Jake’s mission with his career goals. Since participating in the 2022 cohort, he has successfully co-led 2 additional cohorts in Charlotte, with Matt Hultquist, while also launching 5 cohorts across the country. Jake is a spirited individual with a passion to use activity and sport to connect his community. His favorite activities include cycling, pickleball, golf, working out, and playing card games.
